Isoperla develop products that help survey and identify wildlife in the field. We have been building elegant and effective solutions since 2007. We specialise in multi-variate statistics and automatic recognition using sound and vision. Our products include automatic identification, surveying and recording of bird song and automatic recognition of wild flowers from photographs.
Isoperla are experts in the applied use of multi-variate statistics. We reinvented wildlife field guides for the mobile age with Automatic Recognition. This software identifies bird species from songs picked out of the air using the device microphone, like Shazam for birds. The Times Newspaper called it an 'astonishingly sophisticated piece of software'. We were the first company in the world bring this technology to consumer devices.
We specialise in solving complex problems using resource limited devices. We use platforms such as iOS and Android, but also chip boards such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino. We have a comprehensive understanding of the technologies underpinning these systems. We use a blend of agile and traditional techniques to build robust well architected solutions.
We have our own highly functional frameworks which support seamless server integration, data synchronisation, mapping, geolocation and user interface controls.
Can We Help You ?
Isoperla can help you deliver great products with confidence. We have been solving complex problems on resource limited devices since 2007 and have tried and trusted methods that deliver on time and on budget.
Can You Help Us ?
We are looking for partners to help manufacture and market a new Bird Song Id Automatic Recognition product. This product will be a robust physical device based around the Raspberry-Pi board with Arduino extensions. We already have a working prototype.
This new product will be designed to be left outdoors for days or weeks at a time. It will be able to count and report on bird species. Reporting could be via SMS, Email, URL or DataStick. No internet connection will be needed for identification of bird species, recognition happens on the device itself. The device could be used to survey birds, or to immediately signal when a new species enters an area. Immediate signalling could be done via SMS and be useful for monitoring migration or flagging up rare species.
We are currently looking for partners who can help with manufacture, branding and marketing.
Isoperla was formed in 2007 after receiving a regional innovation award in
association with Bath Spa University and Bath University's Ventures Innovation
Centre. The award was to create a new generation of wildlife identification products
for resource limited devices using quantitative multi-variate statistics.
Isoperla were the world leading developers of wildlife apps between 2007 and 2016, selling around $1M worth through the app stores. Our wildlife apps are now sold by our good friends at Sunbird (Mullen & Pohland).
